Mothers Revisited - A DJ Evening of 60's music - 8th January
The 3rd annual outing of Robin Pike's tribute to Birmingham's legendary "Mothers". Paying homage to one of the clubs of the 60's that put Britain at the forefront of the music scene. "Mothers" was a major influence on Robin, who was one of the founders of our own "Friars Aylesbury" a few years later. Expect a night of great 60's music, with guest DJ slots from Robin and many of his friends.
The East Lonesone Drifters -Saturday 18th November - 8pm
The return of our favourite Honky Tonk band The East Lonesone Drifters. A five-piece outfit that pays homage to traditional honky tonk, western swing, Bakersfield and bluegrass - with all the original energy and edge of electric bar bands from country’s classic era. Hailing from Pennsylvania USA, singer Crispy Cowboy gives authentic voice to the stories behind the songs - handpicked from the likes of Hank Williams, Merle Haggard, Bob Wills, Gram Parsons, Buck Owens, Bob Dylan, Steve Earle and many others. With three part harmonies, pedal steel, acoustic guitar, telecaster and bass (and the occasional washboard, piano, dobro and harmonica thrown in) East Lonesome Drifters lay claim to being the most authentic honky tonk barroom band in the UK.
